AVENGED SEVENFOLD Guitarist Says It's 'Hard To Sit Back And Just Relax'
September 26, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports: AVENGED SEVENFOLD had to shut down their busy touring schedule two weeks ago when singer M. Shadows was advised by doctors to rest his strained vocal cords. Although guitarist Synyster Gates planned to spend some of the downtime biking and surfing in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California, he told The Pulse of Radio that the band would much rather be working. "We're worker bees, you know," he said. "We like to just keep on top of things and when it's time to go tour and see our fans and stuff, that's what we're into. That's all we can think of. We just have tunnel vision when it comes to that stuff. And when we're writing an album, you can't get us out of the studio. And so it's a little tough, knowing that this is right in the middle of our touring season, so it's kind of hard to sit back and just relax."
Shadows is in the midst of a month of rest and vocal rehab before he begins singing again on October 15, when AVENGED SEVENFOLD begins a Japanese tour in Osaka.
The band's next U.S. trek starts on November 4 in Casper, Wyoming. The bill will include BUCKCHERRY, SHINEDOWN and SAVING ABEL. AVENGED SEVENFOLD hopes to reschedule the scrapped September shows as well.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD's latest release is "Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough", a DVD/CD set featuring a complete filmed concert as well as previously unreleased B-sides and cover tunes.
